Public Safety

Project Description

These 5 ideas related to Public Safety came out of the 10/21/16 Strong Workforce Regional Planning Meeting as follows.

1. Public Safety Law Enforcement Curriculum: Enhance/develop curriculum with input from practitioners, alignment with new standards, especially for EMT, Paramedic, Fire, others

2. 3rd Party Testing Infrastructure: Given the costs associated with equipment/facilities for testing, establish shared testing infrastructure that could serve the broader region

3. Revisions to Title 5: Regionally support existing efforts at CCCO to revise Title 5

4. DSN for Public Safety: Support Public Safety as a Sector under Doing What Matters. Create a Deputy Sector Navigator role to support the Public Safety sector, and enhance connections to employers, associations, and organizations that support faculty in public safety programs

5. Public Safety Data Dive: Conduct a regional survey to understand demand and supply in the public safey sector, building on ONET, especially for occupations for which there are not dedicated SOC codes (e.g. EMT, Paramedic)
